Ex-Start v2.0 Order and install information. This is the customizable version of Ex-Start. The dialog box that is displayed when a user clicks on the ? button is available to any company or individual with your specified message. This includes the program header (that says Your Message Here), the dialog box heading (that says Your Message Goes Here) as well as the entire body of the box. A brief heading with a personal or company message can be distributed or given away in ANY quantity for one flat price of $25.00! YOU tell ME what you want the headings and dialog box to say, and I will rewrite as per your instructions. Some uses of this custom Ex-Start can be: Promotional give-away for consultants and computer tech-support. Company info on every computer in the firm. Pre-load on every Windows computer sold. Give-away item as advertising at trade shows and conventions. A (short) love letter to your spouse or sweetheart! Install a secret (anonymous) message for romantic (or whatever) purposes. Let your imagination do the walking, and I will help you do the talking. Just remember, the longer the message, the larger the dialog box gets. A short heading and concise message will have a bigger impact than any verbose or rambling epic. No information about the author of this utility (me) will be included in this dialog box. This is YOUR space, you are paying for it, I keep out. You will recieve one (1) copy of exstart2.exe rewritten as you request, along with a modified copy of this text (.txt) file. Your copy of the text file will give a simple install description followed by a "Compliments of:" or "From:" section to identify you or your company as the provider. I suggest that you make a backup of both files as soon as you receive your custom Ex-Start. What does Ex-Start v2.0 do? Windows runs low on Free System Resources after a few hours of heavy use. The Restart Windows button will automatically restart Windows, giving the user a full shot of Free System Resources to work with. NOTE: SAVE all work in progress, and CLOSE all open Windows programs before using Ex-Start. The Exit Windows button is very handy when the user needs to go to the DOS prompt to run any DOS programs that do not run well through Windows, or to run DOS utilities that should not be run through Windows. To return to Windows from the DOS prompt after exit via Ex-Start: just type WIN and press the Return key. How to install Ex-Start v2.0 The file exstart2.exe is the program. Exstart2.txt is a text or information file. BOTH files should be copied to C:\WINDOWS. There are three basic ways to set Ex-Start up for use: 1. Create the icon for exstart2.exe in the STARTUP GROUP in Windows. This will run Ex-Start every time Windows is loaded. 2. Create the icon for exstart2.exe in ANY Windows Progam Manager group. You can then run Ex-Start with a double-click from within the chosen Program Manager group any time that the user is ready to exit or restart Windows. 3. Create the icon for exstart2.exe as a fast or quick-lauch button if the user is using such Program Manager replacements as HP Dashboard, Norton Desktop and others. This will give the user a one-click access to Ex-Start. What to send me to get your customized Ex-Start: 1. A very brief header message to go in the main program top bar that now reads Your Message Here. This must be limited to 25 characters and spaces. 2. A brief heading message to go in the dialog box top bar. This can be the same as in #1, or different. Keep it short. 3. Your personal or company message to go in the body of the dialog box. Concise is BETTER! You can include anything here. Your address such as Postal, E-Mail, Internet or Online service (or all) may be a good entry here. 4. Your payment by check, money order, or cash for $25.00 US to my name and address given below. Sorry, I can not accept credit cards. A word about Windows 95: Yes, Windows 95 is scheduled to be released to the public sometime about mid-1995. Yes, Windows 95 will be a vastly improved version of Windows in every way. But- consider the fact that this utility will get you at least 6 to 8 months of exposure to those companies and users of Windows 3.1/3.11/WFWG 3.11. Plus- many companies and users will NOT convert to Windows 95 as soon as it is released. AND- tests on the first Beta of "Chicago" showed that Ex-Start actually worked on that system. Windows 95 will provide much more Free System Resources that Win 3.1, but the depletion of SysRes will be inevitable after a long day of using word processors, spread sheets, databases and graphics programs. The Exit function will still be useful in the event that some DOS programs may be toublesome via the Windows 95 graphical interface. You should get a long, useful run for your money with Ex-Start v2.0. Whew! OK, I need this utility. Who do I contact? Paul J. Tedesco P.O.
